Recently, jointly hosted by the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute, Cambridge University - Nanjing Centre of Technology and Innovation and National Innovation Center par Excellence, and addressed by Prof. Antonio Vidal-Puig at the University of Cambridge, Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, the Tenth Session of "the Twelve Speeches by Overseas Academicians" was successfully held.

 

 

Prof. Vidal-Puig is the Professor of Molecular Nutrition and Metabolism at the University of Cambridge and PI of Project "Obesity Associated Metabolic Complications: Pathogenic Mechanisms, Diagnostic Biomarkers, and Therapeutic Targets - the Metabolically Healthy Obesity (MHO) Paradox in China". At the session, Prof. Vidal-Puig systematically elucidated the relationship between ageing, obesity and metabolic health, shared how to confront the great challenge to health management under the current dual trends of increasing ageing population and obesity diseases and had an enthusiastic discussion and exchange with the audience. The session received positive feedback and attracted more than 1,500 online and onsite audiences from universities, enterprises and research institutes.

 

 

Oriented by applied research and targeting at commercialisation of research achievements, Cambridge University - Nanjing Centre of Technology and Innovation, the first research institute set up outside the UK by the University of Cambridge, is actively exerting its influence on promoting the international academic exchange and the connection between industry and research. Since the Centre signed a cooperation agreement with the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute in September 2022, the two sides have gradually established a comprehensive strategic partnership, and have actively leveraged their respective strengths to deepen cooperation in cutting-edge fields such as materials, energy and environmental protection, information technology, equipment manufacturing and biopharmaceuticals. The both will continue to facilitate the communication on cooperation needs, high-profile project recommendations and academic exchanges, thus working together to empower the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta.
